Project Overview
The project consisted of an eight-mile extension of the Union Pacific West Line from Peck Road to Route 47. The overall goals of the project were to widen embankments and lengthen drainage structures throughout the eight miles in conjunction with the Union Pacific's construction of a third main line track. The construction team needed to relocate areas of wild native grass and move a historic grain elevator, previously the focal point of the town of Lafox, IL, because it stood in the railroad right-of-way.
